A buffer tank is not required for using HeatAdapt. Each building acts as a large battery, storing heat in its structure. The thermal capacity of a building’s structure is generally several times greater than that of the water in a typical buffer tank. When heating with a heat pump, it is not efficient to overheat the buffer tank, as this reduces the heat pump’s COP.
Nowadays, small buffer tanks are typically installed in heating systems to stabilize the operation of the heat pump, if required for the specific heating system and heat pump combination.
